SABINA GÁMEZ IBARRA
​
Audiovisual artist with a BFA focused on electronic media and a minor degree in biology from Universidad de Los Andes (COL). Currently, she is pursuing her MFA in Intermedia at Concordia University (CA). She has experience in photography direction, video, photography, video installation, post-production, and audiovisual creation.
​
In her artwork, Sabina Gámez focuses on the body and its relation to scale, representation, digitalization, and interaction with the environment. Her research and art practice is centred on understanding the physical, phenomenological experience of embodiment and how the body is understood and contextualized in the media. Gámez, experiments with different formats and approaches to audiovisual media, including chroma key, projection, video performance, and VR to explore notions of the self, self-recognition, remnants, and embodiment in the media. Owing to her studies in biology, she is interested in the observation of the body and its dynamics with external objects and different phenomena.
